Guest Blog: The Quiet Flame: Why I Chose Beeswax

I never planned to start a candle business. I just wanted to feel good in my home again.

After having kids, I became hyper-aware of everything in my space—what we breathed in, what touched our skin, what lingered in the air long after we forgot it was there. It didn’t take long to realize that the candles I once loved were filled with synthetic fragrances and petroleum-based waxes. Cozy? Yes. Clean? Not even close.

So I stopped burning them. But I missed the ritual—the slow light, the way a flame softens a room, the quiet comfort of candlelight.

That’s when I found beeswax.

Unlike paraffin or soy, pure beeswax burns without releasing toxins. It emits negative ions that bind to dust and pollutants in the air. It smells like warm honey—without any added scent. And the glow? It’s unmatched. It dances with our circadian rhythm, there is something ancient about beeswax light. It feels honest. Unbothered. Sacred, even.

That’s why I started Honey + Harvest—to bring that kind of purity back into our homes. Every candle is hand-poured using 100% pure beeswax and a cotton wick. That’s it. No perfumes, no dyes, no compromises.

What started as a personal pursuit became a small-batch business rooted in reverence—for the bees, the earth, the home, and the quiet power of intentional living.

I’m so honored to share a little piece of that here, especially on a platform I’ve long looked to for inspiration. You’ve shaped the way I think about skin, energy, and the kind of life I want to live. This post is a full-circle moment for me.

If you’ve ever felt sensitive to scents or weighed down by your space without knowing why—maybe it’s time to light something different.

And if you do, I hope it brings you home to yourself, the way it did for me.

With light,

Robyn
